A bit too pretentious for Mammoth. - Location - terrible! It's hella far from Main lodge, you have to dodge cars, SUV's and buses to get across the street, then walk uphill to get to it. Now, do that in heavy gear, snowboard boots, while carrrying a board = NOT fun! - Drinks - very pricey! - Food - expensive! Ordered a chicken pita salad $11 - say what? 5 star restaurants in LA doesn't even charge those kind of prices. Now, my salad did taste pretty good. - Service - reasonably fast - Freebies: there's a table at the entrance of the bar with a bunch of condiments for your bloody mary: olives, peppers, and BACON!!! I cleaned out that whole bowl of bacon on my way out! (Warning: I'm a professional bacon swiper, please do not attempt this stunt!)

We hit up the yodeler for dinner after a long day of boarding. There was some kind of party going on so it seemed really crowded, but this was only the bar area. The restaurant was nearly empty at 5:30pm but filled up by the time we left. One of my friends mentioned that we all got free massages from our chairs vibrating due to the sweet baseline from the party music. We shared some wings to start, and I had a burger and my compadres both had the lasagna. The burger was OK, standard mountain fare. My buddies both agreed their dishes tasted like hamburger helper. I had a beer which at 7.25 was a bit steep but it was good. The guys each had a "Yodeler Toddy" which they thoroughly enjoyed. The service was very friendly and attentive. It has a very convenient location so I might go back for a drink, but I wouldn't recommend the food unless you're stuck at the main lodge area.

My boyfriend and I went here twice during our weekend snowboarding trip. The food is better tasting and more reasonable than at Dry Creek Bar. The spatzel is total comfort food, super cheesy and awesome with the bacon add on. The kale Caesar salad is a nice twist on the typical version. And the sausage platter was really good, especially if you like mustards. Overall a nice experience, will definitely come back next time we're in Mammoth.

The ultimate grilled cheese is epic! Soooo good!!! Service was ok, but the sandwich made up for that.

After a few years of some sort of identity crisis, the Yodler returned to its roots: Bavarian Cuisine. With a twist, of course. What I've eaten so far: Belgian fries (blue cheese, bacon, leek sauce); Hunters platter; fennel sausage, potato and Manchego flatbread (fresh out of the wood burning oven); potato leek soup (Mora's grandmother's recipe); black kale "Caesar" salad; the chicken schnitzel sandwich; the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich; the Fulton farms chicken breast; vegetarians Shepherd's pie; black forest lasagna; and the sausage trio sampler. The Belgian fries came out to our table after our soups and it was a challenge to keep from devouring the entire plate. Since I've moved to Mammoth Lakes, I've been on a mission to find the restaurant that serves the best fries. I think I just found it. The fries with bacon would have been wonderfully paired with one of the 25 beers the Yodler offers, but unfortunately I couldn't drink on this visit. I have a confession: I'm not a fan of spicy food. My mouth is a wimp and mustard can be too much for me at times (I know--I'm pathetic). I hesitated to try the chicken schnitzel sandwich since the word jalapeño was listed in its description, but when a colleague kept commenting on how delicious it was, I had to try it (besides, I am slightly obsessed with schnitzels). For someone who normally can't stand the burning sensation in and around the mouth, the jalapeño aioli didn't overpower the rest of the meal and I was left pleasantly surprised. The homemade mustard sauce that accompanied the Hunters platter was also approved by my taste buds. The mustard had a bite to it, but it didn't leave my mouth numb (oh and the bread that comes with the platter is impeccable--a must try). Out of the entrées samples, the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich impressed me the most. After I took the first bite, I started to laugh. I never order a grilled cheese sandwich when I dine out since the meal, in my opinion, is so simple, why would I spend money on something I can make myself? But this is no ordinary grilled cheese. Appropriately named, the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich comes with Gruyere, Gouda, and cheddar cheeses layered with smoked ham and warm tomato and onion marmalade. It's finished with an egg over easy and crispy Tabasco onions on top. Absolutely brilliant. You can't have a Bavarian themed restaurant without sausage, and the sausage trio sampler included three different sausages (bockwurst, Whiskey Fennel, and bratwurst) on a pretzel roll surrounded by a German potato salad and spicy mustard. You can't find the Whiskey Fennel sausage anywhere else in the world. It is specifically made for The Yodler. And it's delicious. The meal also comes with homemade sauerkraut, which is worth trying, even if you don't typically like sauerkraut. Trust me. I've had every dessert there ... and I'd totally go to this restaurant just for its dessert! Bavarian cream puff, a skillet black forest cookie, the root beer snow (made with Mammoth Brewing Company's root beer), baked Alaska, and the apple tart that comes with house-made salted caramel ice cream. You really can't go wrong with any of the options, but I happened to enjoy the Bavarian cream puff the best (must be the eastern European in me). When redesigning the menu, executive chef Marc Mora feels the vegetarian and gluten-free community often receive the raw end of the deal when it comes to dining and thus, in picking and choosing meals for the menu, went out of his way to make sure they also enjoy a wide array of options. The menu is littered with GFs or Vs behind certain items to denote if the meal is gluten free or vegetarian, respectively. As a carnivore, I usually order meals that include meat. After tasting the vegetarian shepherd's pie (turnips, brown mushrooms, pearl onions, and asparagus in a sundried tomato sauce and a parsnip and potato crust), I might have to make an exception. I don't remember the last time I ate parsnip and clearly forgot how yummy it tastes. Since Mammoth Lakes is family oriented, Mora didn't forget to include a kids menu. To top off an entire menu full of meals that'll get your taste buds to fist pump in your mouth--whether you're a vegetarian or a carnivore, an adult or a child--everything is well priced. *Note: Most of this was previously published in the Mammoth Times. Stopped here for lunch after a morning hike and was very impressed! The place looks like an old swiss ski chalet, very warm and cozy with dark wood old world charm. We were seated quickly and service was fast and friendly. The beer selection is fabulous with a variety of domestics and imports. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was perfect. The chicken was lightly fried and still juicy. The sour pickles and tangy mustard were mellowed out by the smooth swiss cheese. The boar sausage on the ripe sandwich was perfectly juicy and not overly salty. We'll definitely be stopping back here again.

The hubby & kids came to bike, zip line, rock climb & do the bungee trampoline here on a sunny Summer Sunday. Seems the only places to eat are the Yodler and the Mountainside. Both have outdoor decks with amazing views. The food selection is ski resort fare, nothing to write home about but I'm just thankful for hot food on the mountain! Weird thing at the Yodler: if you eat on the deck, you must order from the outdoor BBQ which has 4 selections (burger, grilled chicken burger, beef hotdog or a "rope burger" which is a German sausage in a potato bun - all come with a side of chips). To order from the full menu, you MUST sit inside the dining room. It's dark and dank in there, 70s chic, musty. Why would I want to sit in there when there's a crispy blue mountain sky with white puffy clouds outside? I asked multiple staff if I could just order TO-GO from the full menu, and eat on the deck? They were all very cordial but the answer was a unanimous "NO, I'm sorry they won't allow it." If "they" is reading this review: GET YOUR FOOD PROGRAM TOGETHER PLEASE. We are Mammoth Mountain lovers who come bearing money in our pockets and its serve both of us if you could provide a few decent outdoor eating options. Street tacos? Salads? Wraps? Or just have Gomez' or Toomeys set up a pop up food stand ? On the positive side, if you are lucky enough to have the REEEEALLY NICE GUY CHRIS as your server, he is sure to put a smile on your face . If you want to deal with bassakwards arbitrary food eating rules for no apparent reason, I guess you should eat here . UPDATE: we came back the next day and noticed that you can order from the dining room menu. Maybe it was some weird weekend thing...

I'm torn about this place. Food was good. Hated the service. Pretzel-massive!!! The size of a medium pizza but about as thick as a layer cake. Very good! Could serve 4-6 people easily. Leek soup-very good. Flatbread- very good. Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich- okay. BF said he liked it but wouldn't order it again. So, we had the same waitress both times we were there. She was awful. Seemed like she had this odd bad attitude and didn't want to serve us. Both times she was much more attentive to the tables around us. The first time I went with my bf and step son for dinner. My step son is well behaved so there was no reason to avoid us. And just made us feel very uncomfortable. No booster seat. Didn't give my 4 year old a small cup of water, gave him a big one filled to the rim, never came back for refills, took along time to take our order, never came back except to give us the check. Just weird. The second time I was happy to be greeted for lunch by a bubbly young lady I had hoped would be out waitress. Nope. The other girl reappeared! Ugh! And same thing. Wasnt nice at all, took our order, no refills, paid attention to others, only came back to give us the check. I rarely pull the race card(I hate it!) but my bf and step son are black. I honestly felt like it was because they were not white(like 99% of Mammoth. I'm not just talking about the snow!) that we were treated poorly both times. I didn't have any other issues anywhere else.

Just ate some delicious duck fat fries at the Yoddler. Brad ( the chef) and Robert were awesome. Jaeger bombs were the bomb. What a great experience!!!!

Good food, very poor service. The outdoor patio is nice and the inside is super Eastern Sierra and welcoming. I was very excited. The restaurant was pretty empty. I ordered a flatbread and a Coke. The flatbread was very good, and pretty large, so a good deal. Unfortunately, it was not as warm as it could have been... I watched the waiter carry my flatbread throughout the entire restaurant while he greeted and helped other guests, not just once, but two or three times. Just bring me the food! Additionally, given how much I was doing outdoors, I was very thirsty. The waiter did not once offer a refill until AFTER I had given him my credit card with the bill, when at that point I just wanted to leave. He never even checked on me whatsoever. It took a long time to get my bill, and about 20 mins for the waiter to run the card and give me the bill to sign. I could have dismissed this experience and just not rewarded with a good tip, but while i was eating... I looked around me and saw confusion and discomfort among some of the patrons. A table with two guys was having a debate with the same waiter two or three times about the charges on their bill and the ability to split the bill. This seemed like a huge ordeal. They had already finished their food and drinks when I was seated. The issue was not resolved until right before I left. In the middle of all of this, the waiter handed over the mess to a waitress to deal with because he was going on break. Second, a large group containing several little kids (maybe 7-8 people total) were seated near me as I was eating, and based on what the mother was saying and the rushed response from the waitress, it really felt as if the waitress was bothered, and I could tell the mother felt unwelcomed by the look on her face and the questions she was asking, "Is it ok if...? Can we...?" And I could hear the waitress trying to justify why she didn't do certain things instead of just doing them. This is a place I might stop by for a drink at the bar, or with a group of friends where I can be distracted from bad service by debauchery, but my expectations will be a lot lower.

They brought the duck fat fries back!! Damn they're good! Robert our waiter brought the chef out special to meet us and he fried them up just for us! Thanks guys! Great time!!

We ate here on our way out after checking out of the hotel. The waiter was wonderful and personable. Our table was just a teeny bit wobbly, not even enough to upset us, but he got down on the floor and fixed it immediately. It was a nice casual meal.

Food was delicious! But service was bad! The glasses where dirty! I think they forgot to wash them. Both men and women bathrooms didnt have any toilet paper, paper towels, or hand soap. Its too bad the service was so poor.

If I'm on the mountain for the day, I usually stop in here for lunch. Usually for a burger, which is always decent. However, the last time i had the Margherita Pizza, which has roasted garlic on it. This was a great addition to the traditional Margherita pizza, worth a try especially for the garlic lovers like myself.

They have got you trapped. No other food options without going into town. My family and I ate here and had the flat bread pizza (nasty and undercooked) burger (beyond well done nuked) dry ad can be and a 18 dollar pretzel. Pretzel was big and tasty everything else was mediocre. nice staff and they had 2 beers adding to the star rating (they don't advertise this so ask your bartender for specials). Step it up Yoder serve some fresh foot not a Costco hamburger patty. paying 15 bucks for a burger should result in something that tastes good. the atmosphere is good and sitting on the deck is beautiful.

Came here for a late lunch after hiking up arount Devil's Postpile. We ordered nachos to share and each had the burger. The food was good and the service was friendly. I ordered a strawberry lemonade cocktail and it was really good. There were lots of people in the restaurant, but our server stopped by several times. I would definitely come back. Maybe try the pretzel next time. Saw lots of people eating them.

I am shocked at the rating on this restaurant. I have been here twice and was shocked at how much I liked it. The first time I only had beers on the huge deck outside. It was such a nice day and they had plenty if waiters, it was packed and everyone seemed happy. My next visit was a few days later and I sat inside. I came with a group of 6. Plenty of seating and the windows open up like you are actually sitting outside. They have a great happy hour and if you have a season bike park pass like me =) they have $1 and $2 dollar beers. They actually ran out of the specially priced beers but gave us different beers for the same price. Huge plus! The menu is extensive and they also have a great selection for kids (we had 3 in our group). We got the Giant Pretzel for an appetizer and it was so awesome. Comes with 3 different kinds of dipping sauce (2 mustards and an aged cheddar). Was the size of the 4 year olds head. So good and plenty for everyone. On the kids menu we ordered the chicken and mac n cheese. The older kid got a huge brautworst and all kids devoured the food. They loved it. The adults got a sausage sampler plate, Yodler Burger and a grilled cheese. The sausage sampler plate was your choice of three different kinds of sausage with 3 different krauts and a side of potato salad (German style). The Yodler burger was a huge juicy burger with a side of fries. Looked amazing and the BF loved it. I got the grilled cheese. I highly recommend getting this. It is a grilled cheese on steroids. Fresh baked bread, 3 different kinds of cheese, thinly sliced ham and a fried egg cracked on top. OMG--Amazing!! It came with a side of homemade tobasco flavored onion rings. If you come to Mammoth do not miss the Yodler. It is very family friendly and so delicious. The only downside is that you can't bring your dog on the outside deck.

This place used to be so good, then they changed owners and ruined it! No more Woolly Wings, no more big plate of nachos. They are trying to do some kind of upscale euro-bistro sort of thing, and it is just not at all the same. My snow spirit is sad because now I have to get lunch in the cafeterias on the mountain.

We ordered the $18 pretzel (I kid you not) which was great last year. This time it was just slightly burned flavorless white bread. What a let down! The staff seemed surprised that we didn't love it, but I saw two couples the following day leaving most of theirs unfinished as well. If you are going to charge $18 for a hunk of bread, it should have flavor! Pretzels are a simple thing to make! Strike two was the $9 Beer Cheese bread bowl. It is supposed to b a garlic cheese dip with seasonal vegetables. It arrived as a lukewarm flesh colored cheese in a flavorless white bread bowl. Accompanied by cold carrots (3), celery sticks (4), and (4) slices of apple. Not sure what the plan was, but the cheese is cold and heavy, flavorless, and very unappetizing with the strange color. The bread bowl tasted awful too, so we ate the carrots and celery. Great way to waste $9. Final attempt, only because it was pouring rain out and we were still hungry, was the goulash. This is a vegetarian offering for $16, and its fantastic. Root vegetables, perfect sauce, and spaetzle. Warm, great flavor, everything cooked just right. Maybe we were desperate for anything edible at this point, but I'd give it two thumbs up.

Oh how I have such mixed feelings about this place. It's got a super cabin feel to it. It took FOREVER for us to get our drinks and food. In fact, the last time I checked was 41 minutes from the time I checked in to the place and still no food. We would have to keep asking for water and drinks. You would think that with a place with only two other occupied tables that you would get better service, but no. Don't get me wrong, the employees were super nice, but just not attentive. The food however, was definitely worth the wait. Although tenu is limited to German style cooking which is something I'm unfamiliar with, it has soup, salad, appetizers and kid friendly meals that you can choose from and feel safe ordering. I ordered the half chicken with lemon sauce. The presentation is horrible but the. Again, I wouldn't know how to make a half chicken and five little prices of potatoe look appealing. Anyhow, the chicken was eh, but the lemon sauce made it delicious!!! The potatoes had Parmesan and it was good! -yes, all five peices. And their Mac and cheese for adults was even better!!! Definitely order a side of that, otherwise you'll be left hungry. Would I come back? If its super cold and I'm staying at the mammoth inn again, I guess I'd have no choice. I just have to make sure to go when I'm not hungry so by the time I get my food, I'll have an appetite. Oh!!!! They do have a bar section and there are tvs in the restaurant area as well.

We had a wonderful dinner at the yodeler restaurant last night, on Presidents' Day weekend no less. Service was fast and the food was delicious traditional German cuisine. I had the leek soup which was delicious and also the Wildboar Bockwurst sandwich. My daughter had the German spatzle and loved it. My son had the kale Caesar salad a great deal for the price. My husband wasn't too happy with his cheese fondue appetizer didn't think it was hot enough.

The food is very good. I ate a couple of times while staying at the main lodge. Though they seem to close a little early. The staff is very friendly and service is quick. I had the lasagna. Instead of tomato sauce they use a wild mushroom sauce that is earthy, meaty and just slightly salty. I could use that sauce on so many things, I hope they post the recipe at some point. That alone kept me coming back.

We almost walked out of this place because we waited over 30 minutes for our lunch. I reminded my husband that there aren't a lot of choices and that I didn't want to go on our gondola ride hungry. Well his whole demeanor changed once he bit into his Chicken and Grilled Bread (Grilled garlic soft crostini topped with seasonal greens, cranberries, shallots, almonds, Goat cheese and chicken with a balsamic vinaigrette). He kept saying how this was the most delicious salad he ever had. I had the Rope Sandwich (Handcrafted rope sausage, grilled and served with arugula, onions, tomatoes, and dijonaise on brioche bun and side of sauerkraut and braised red cabbage). I chose bratwurst. I'm not a huge fan of sandwiches, but this a juicy, not too greasy sandwich. Even the brioche was very tasty. Loved the fries too. My daughter had the Black Kale "Caesar" Salad and that was exceptional too with tasty shreds of fresh parmesan cheese. I would have given 5 stars, but the wait even though it was worth it, was still too long.

Very disappointed in our visit there yesterday. The service was extremely bad, my food was horrible, husband said the burger was ok. So disappointed in the lack of selection on the menu and especially the service. Not worth it even though it is very convenient if your staying at the Mammoth Mountain Inn. So disappointed!

Love the pretzels, nice bloody marys and I like the kale caesar salad. Typically with dressing I'm a less-is-more type of person but they under-dressed my salad and my companion's, so we got some more on the side. We usually stay up here in the winter so it's convenient and can accomodate large groups. We just went up last weekend and the service was good. I can't speak to the prices because honestly, our company pays for the meals there! Yippee!

I would love to say how good anything was, but after waiting 45 minutes I left. Our server showed up twice!! In 45 minutes.. Now if this was a busy weekend I might have understood a bit, but it wasn't crowded and it was a Tuesday.. I will never ever go back..Too many great resturants in Mammoth Lakes to waste anymore of my time

3 pound pretzel? YES PLEASE! The drinks are just okay but the prices are great and the big pretzel is the best! The place seemed a little empty after the slopes had closed. I guess everyone else goes out in the Village. Well fine with me. It's cool anyway

Very disappointed. We ate here today at about 1pm. Service was literally the worst I have ever experienced. We had the veggie shepherds pie. It was the only positive thing to mention. Kids meal was horrible (soggy pasta!?). Also tried to get the large Bavarian pretzel. We were told that the order came in late and they were still frozen. Really? You don't make them? It is $18! Glad I did NOT get to order that ... We were ignored by the waiter. He sat us but did not provide menus. When we asked for them, we got attitude. The whole experience was like this. Literally ignored. Horrible. Not worth the price. I will never return.

We flew in to ski so there's not that much choice when we didn't have a car. To be honest, the food there was not great at all but at least it's better than the food at the restaurant at MM inn. I had the Belgian fries. I normally loves fires but this time I couldn't even finish it. That just gives you a hint a good it could be! The service was attentive but slow consider the fact that there were only 2 groups in the entire restaurant.

Good beer selection. Friendly service. Good food. We shared the giant pretzel and it came with three delish dipping sauces. We also ordered, schnitzel, vegetarian Shepard ' s pie, wild boar sausage, and a veggie plate with hummus. We were all quite happy with our plates. The kids liked their selections too. Good ambiance for families. Kids can be kids and it is big and open enough not to disturb others. Prices are fair for the area. Very happy with the vegetarian selections!

We ate a lunch here but as an appetizer we ordered their GIANT pretzel - big mistake! The pretzel is delicious but it is *huge* and it will fill you up before you get your entree. It comes with two different mustards and a cheese dip - yum yum. I ordered the sausage and potato flatbread - it was very good but since I'd eaten the giant pretzel I could not finish my flatbread and ended up taking it home. My husband ordered one of their hamburgers and it was quite large so again, he could not finish it. So here is my recommendation: if you order the pretzel, don't bother ordering an entree - the pretzel will fill you up.

Food is ok but near dinner time the place is fricken noisey! Well it's a bar also....duh. Service is borderline nonexistent probably because the servers can't concentrate. They do work their ass off. Lunch had better service wise and quieter....... no bar crowd. They're on the mountain.

"If you ever teach a yodeling class, probably the hardest thing is to keep the students from just trying to yodel right off. You see, we build to that." -- Jack Handy, "Saturday Night Live - Deep Thoughts" Firs of all, this review is dedicated to Vanessa H. who said she had ALMOST 500 reviews before she received her ROTD. Well I am now on #502 without an ROTD so I just broke her record!!! Boo Ya! Give it up for a non-winner! I'd like to thank all the people who are better writers than me along with the girls whose bikini shots and cute faces easily ensure that they get more FUC's than I do. i could not have achieved this "milestone" without you! Let's get to 600 reviews now!!! The Yodler is a perfectly acceptable tourist spot on Mammoth Mountain. My son and I ate here after visiting The Devil's Postpile. He was a bit nauseous after the bus ride back up the Mountain so pasta and a lemonade were his ticket. I ordered veggie appetizer plate and a sausage/potato flatbread. My son enjoyed his pasta but just felt it was alright. My veggie platter was huge with tons of fresh, crisp veggies and a couple of dippers. My flatbread was also huge but too greasy. i only ate the end parts and didn't touch the soggy greasy middle. 2,5 stars but I'm rounding up because even though i only drank a diet soda, i noticed their wine and beer list was excellent with especially the white wines from Alsace being a thoughtful touch in a tourist area. This is my final review from our HWY 395 vacation. Thanks for reading :)

I really liked this restaurant. It's convenient because you can ski to it. The food is really good. I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel. I ordered it two days in a row for lunch. It's on the spicy side so beware. My friend ordered the giant pretzel which lives up to its name. It's huge! It comes with three dipping sauces: cheese, sweet mustard, and Dijon mustard. The pretzel and all of the dipping sauces were delicious. You can eat this as your entire meal or you'll definitely have to share. The chilled Schnapps were good. I had apricot, black plum and yellow plum. I liked the yellow plum the best. The only thing that I didn't like was that the restrooms were downstairs. It was a pain walking up and down with my ski boots...but that is a minor thing. Based on food and service, I highly recommend this place.

We were staying at MM Inn for the weekend. Our friends had arrived a day ahead of us and ate at Yodler on Friday nite. Loved the meatloaf. Convinced us to go back Sunday to give it a try. We came in at 4PM and were seated right away. We ordered cocktails and a giant pretzel and told the server we would be ordering dinner shortly. We received our drinks and pretzel and then were ignored for the next hour. No problem, we were enjoying ourselves. A few minutes after 5 our waitress came by to check on us. Asked if we were finished with pretzel. We said yes and we were ready to order dinner. She took away the pretzel and returned a few minutes later and said "I'm sorry, the kitchen is now closed. You are welcome to sit here and drink but you can't order dinner". She said the kitchen closed at 5PM. It was now 5:10. We asked her to please go ask the chef if we could just have some meatloaf to go. She said she could not go ask because he would get mad at her. We asked for our check which she promptly delivered. A bus boy came by and we told him we would like to see the manager. Moments later our waitress returned and said she was "sort of in charge tonight". We gasped and said, "you've got to be kidding! and you made a mistake like that?" She promptly turned on the waterworks and complained about what a horrible week she had. We asked why she didn't come and tell us the kitchen was closing at 5PM when she knew we were there for dinner. She said she was sorry, she screwed up and don't worry about tipping her and suggested we take a shuttle into town to eat dinner. We explained that if we wanted to eat in town we would have stayed in town. But we chose to stay at the Inn for the convenience of not having to go down the hill in a blizzard. A very disappointing experience. The only highlight was we saw Glen Plake sitting by the fire place. That was cool. We ended up eating at the Mountainside Grill. They were way more apologetic about our experience that the Yodler was. They bent over backwords to make sure we had an enjoyable evening. The food was good (but no, they did not have any meatloaf). The service was spectacular and the manager came and let us vent about how the Yodler was being run.

The food was good and the service was great, its like a ski lodge restaurant its not the Ritz. So, 4 stars because, yay! I'm a fan!!

We ate or drank here at least once a day during our 4 day stay this season! We were snowed in and staying at the Inn, so there weren't a whole lot of options, but still. The menu isn't too diverse and it's not a place to club at after a long day at the slopes; it's a nice place to relax and have a drink (or more). We found what we were looking for each day/night and felt comfortable lounging for as long as we wanted to without being pressured to leave or without it being too crowded.

Dropped in for lunch on a warm summer day while checking out the Adventure Center. I wasn't expecting much from their grill, but I have to say that they served up a very hearty, not to mention tasty and juicy burger. The warm potato salad was good too. The outdoor seating was nice for those looking to bask in the sun and watch people scale a man made rock climbing structure. I especially liked the table cloth covered tables, very nice touch. Like pretty much everything else in Mammoth, the decor and design of this restaurant lends itself well to a wintry ski resort vibe, sunken fireplace seating and all.

I have only been here once, but if you are like most, you come a long way to get to Mammoth. When you go out to eat, you want food that rocks and drinks that are stiff, this place has neither.... This trip I was in a party of five, it took forever to even get water. Over an hour or so to get our crappy food.... What bartender doesn't know that a Vodka Tonic always comes with lime? What waiter is so lost he can't remember to bring you one, even when you ask him three times? and when a Bacon Cheese burger is $14 and you ask for it "Rare" why would someone bring you a burnt piece of ground beef on a crispy bun? The only saving grace - the manager did correct the tab, to take off the drink we didn't order and he also took off the "automatic" 18% gratuity charge (which we did not know about until we got the check, a party of five gets an auto gratuity?) i am not the picky whiny type when it comes to restaurants.....but i couldn't help myself at this place. do yourself a favor and skip this joint....but before you do, take a look at the wood carving out to the left of the front door....then ask yourself this question...what is that guy holding down there?

Amazing sunshine and incredible powder: great skiing conditions. Since we were staying at the Mammoth Mountain Inn (again), decided to give this place a try for dinner. The place was bustling but were seated relatively quickly. Tried tab beers - Mammoth Pale Ale & Mammoth Brown something. Both were excellent! Ordered the rigatoni : yum! The BBQ chicken pizza was goooood - my 11 y.o. said it was better than Cheesecake Factory's. Husband ordered the fish tacos, which were good too! Overall, a good place to eat around here - since this is the only place around here. (Other than the Grill, which is more formal and not as good.) The service was slow but friendly.

This place was horrible! Went there for a sunday brunch, and was met with RUDE service and a cockroach in the fruit platter. My girlfriend's disabled grandmother asked where the restroom was, and they told her it was across the street, while laughing at her. DO NOT go here.

This is a great place for a quick bite to eat in between runs. Loved the fish taco's. The pulled pork sandwhich was really good as well. I couldn't stop eating those taco's though, when I like something I will order it until I get sick of it. Not too pricey, nice little break point and a friendly staff.

The place was alright considering it's by the Adventure Center. They served lot of food but the fries was too cooked. The waiter kept refilling my drink- maybe to make up for the food...

First off, the map incorrectly shows the location as in town. The restaurant is actually located about three miles away, across the road from the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area main lodge. The good: bartenders are quite nice and the service in the bar area is usually very prompt and courteous, there is an outdoor dining space with lovely views of the ski area and the climbing wall. During the summer it's the only place with table service at lunch near the main lodge. The bad: the food is a mostly a wreck. Tired bar "classics" poorly presented and over priced. The Yodler Fire Chicken wings are so small and poorly butchered they look like they came from a pigeon abattoir run by a bunch of blind Freddy Krugers. The rock hard tomatoes in the Caprese salad are so poorly plated that you feel like you're eating in a prison camp. And run, don't walk away from the grayish off smelling sausage platter. About the only halfway decent item on the menu is the fish tacos and at $12.50 for two they'd better be. More bad: the service both in the dining room and out on the patio can only be called a hot mess. In the last three visits (see above for why I bother to go back) I have never had all the items delivered as ordered. The last time we waited for 30 minutes to order only to have two out of the four items botched. The excuse, "we're busy" The reward for the insulting service and food was an annoying happy face newt to the server's name on the tab. Visited July 2011

Yodler has, for years, been the bar of choice for Main Lodge apres-ski drinks. For years this bar, imported piece by piece from Austria, hosted tons of partiers each day, finding each other for a drink or snack before tackling the drive back down the road to town. But times have changed. For one thing that drive, which used to take minutes, can now take an hour if you're stuck in traffic caused by the new village. Secondly, many people have shifted their drinking to the Tusk Bar in the lodge itself, where live music takes place. Part of the reason for the shift is that management at Yodler took out many of the tables and added a fooseball table, and - word is - has the attitude that they don't care if the regulars come back there this season. It's a weird shift in attitude, and one that has many swearing off this local watering hole. The bar itself is nice; there's a sunken area next to a fireplace, several tables against the wall and an old wooden bar. When crowded it's a scene - mostly with the above-30 crowd as many of the youngsters have shifted down to the village and places like Lakanuki, Hennessey's Tavern etc. You'll find this pub (hof?) next to the Inn and the new gondola station.

The Yodler is okay for apres-ski drinks and appetizers, but really not the best. I suppose the most appealing thing about it is how close it is to the slopes. The food is typical bar stuff and not very well done at that. I'd recommend just heading down to the Village, unless you're stuck on the mountain because of snow and can't drive down there.

I give 5 stars for the Hot Coco treatment and super delish cookie in a pan with ice cream. Our server plopped marshmallows in our hot coco which the kids loved... Our server was great and we had a nice experience sitting next to the fire with our hot coco and big cookie. We didn't try any of the food, but we would go back for another coco and cookie treat after being on the mountain all day. THANK YOU!

Summary: We were pleasantly surprised by this place near the main lodge at Mammoth. We had read some of the negative reviews on here regarding slow service, bad location, etc. and didn't experience any of that. Food was excellent, the location was easy to get to, and the service was fast. One of the better places to eat on the mountain. The Food: Overall, the food was great. We had the Kale Caesar Salad and the Rope (Sausage) sandwich. We also had a German beer (some type of Hefeweizen. The Kale Caesar Salad was an interesting twist on the normal Romaine Caesar Salad, but using Kale instead. It worked well ,and included shaved Parmesan and the best croutons ever. However, it was a little overdressed and was a little on the more tangy side. The sausage was awesome and is highly recommended. It was served with three different types of mustard, including a slightly sweet cranberry mustard. Basically, it was all good. The Service: Our server was fast, attentive, and friendly. The food come out very quickly. Nothing else to say. Price: About what you'd expect. ~$30 for the salad, sandwich, and tall beer. Location: Great! Close to the Main Lodge and Mammoth Mountain Inn. No need to dodge cars if you don't walk through the parking lot. (Just walk near the Gondola)

How about Zero stars because that is what I'd give the ol' Yodler. They cannot for the life of them figure out how to cook a few hamburgers and hot dogs on the deck. We ordered and waited and waited and waited for 2 hot dogs and 2 hamburgers. Forty minutes later we found out that we were still 3rd in line to have our ordered cooked. The kids couldn't stand it any longer so we had to cancel our order for our $14 hamburgers (each) and leave. How about throwing more burgers and hot dogs on the grill Yodler and not cook each order one at a time. You'd burn through a few more burgers but at $14 each you can afford it. Save your time and money and avoid the Yodler.

Decent, but pricey food, but just about the worst service I've received. Server was slow, unhelpful, and just plain wrong ("no, we can't do that", "no, we don't have plastic forks" for to go orders (!)). Took us almost an hour to eat lunch - the 30 minute wait with two anxious kids was just unforgiveable.

  • Mandi T.

Neh. They were busy for the Annual blackout, so I understand the service. The prices aren't too bad, but service was slow. The food wasn't anything to write home about, it's just a convenient lil place on the bottom of the slope, perfect for your break in between skiing/snowboarding...

Service sucked. The place is a hodgepodge and the food was not worth ordering. Too bad because the location is fantastic. My advice - skip it.

Over the years, the Yodler has taken on many incarnations. Their latest menu is my favorite. I love the vegetarian stroganoff, and the giant pretzel was super yummy. Four of us finished it easily - cooked to perfection. They always have my favorite Mammoth brews on tap (Paranoids is my first choice), and on days I need a bit of a warm pick-me-up the Mammoth Mocha hits the spot.

Ugh, they are trying to go upscale again. The food is more expensive than in the old days and what passes for a brautwurst sandwich is not as good as the old one. They only have a couple of TV's now. Still the slippery stairs to the bathroom. Still it is sit down service with a waiter, but the lowered food quality and higher prices may push me out of here.

While the new menu is nice, I can't really tell anyone to waste an hour or more just trying to get your food served hot when you could be on the mountain. I have been twice in two weeks to give them a try. The first trip was fine, but, I watched other tables looking around for their food for a good long time. The table next to me ordered soups and a shared entree. It took at least 25 minutes for a simple sausage platter to arrive, and that was before the soups. They commented on the fact that they would have liked their soup first. The waiter really didn't seem to care. The following week I went back with the family. The service was incredibly slow from the get go. We ordered two soups which took nearly 30 minutes to arrive( I timed it) and it wasn't even that hot. How it take that long to ladle soup into a bowl is beyond me. About 1 minute later our entrees showed up so we let that get cold so we could finish our now lukewarm soup, which wasn't that great to begin with. The chicken schnitzle sandwich is pretty decent and very filling. It comes with fires(frites, actually) and it worth a try if you are there. The Mac and Cheese is not worth it at all. I mentioned to the manager who seemed to be frazzeled, that I was disappointed in the slow service. He said it was because they sat too many tables outside on the patio which was total bullshit. I looked out there and maybe 3 tables were full. It wasn't even really busy inside either. It took well over an hour to get served and pay. Oh, it took a good 10 minutes to get our damn credit card receipt back to sign as well. I don't know what the hell the inept servers were doing, but they aren't very fast at the job they are paid to do. It's too bad, because I would like to try some other menu items, but I can't waste that much time for lunch when there is snow to be skied. And one other thing- what the hell is so special about a freshed baked pretzel that can command a $16 price tag? This is Mammoth, not Vail.

Good spot, love the location and love the Swiss decor even more, sure wish they took their pizza making here more serious though, it would be cool if they would fly in a famous pizza chef from New York during the uber-whitey Winter Season, his name would be Joey...and he would roll out stromboli's like a champ, sorry I got way carried away. There is something about Swiss-Living.....torches, Swiss crosses, mountaineer gear, it's very 80's in such a RAD WAY. I love the outside view, and with the inside of the place you kinda feel like your in the Eagles nest, but I digress. I must say, there is something about drinking in this spot, it's very relaxed, cool staff...but they must up the food, it needs work. Just bake a few solid pies, you know the deal, have a really good crust, the rest is a simple sauce, and toppings and cheese do the rest. Over all 3 stars for a great location, decor, wine list, and your staff, they are what really makes this joint great. However OWNER please stop relying solely on the location, get the pizza in check and I'll be back to check on my favorite little Swiss mountain cellar in the USA.

I come here for three reasons: Beer Friendly, accommodating service The sausages!!!!! ---- Between three people, we managed to ravage a plate of kale Caesar salad and a sausage trio platter. What a fun treat to have live polka to accompany our meal. Conveniently located next to Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge, this place is rarely boring.

The Yodler is a great bar to hit after a great day of skiing at Mammoth. It can be busy at around 4pm, so it's best to get there early and go straight to the bar for drinks rather than waiting around for service. The bartenders are the best! We tried a group dinners here as well and they work out better than you might expect.

Vintage Ski Chalet ala Mammoth. Thank God they haven't changed the decore. Attentive bartenders. Lunch offering is basic mammoth mountain faire. TVs showing golf and 70's rock n roll streaming. We were well taken care of. Beautiful deck but too breezy today. Fish tacos were perfect. Big pieces of beer batter fried fish; real deal except for the green sauce...not sure what that was. Burger ok. No high expectations here....good basics, cleanly prepared, beautiful location. Well visited with people from all over the US and world this time of year.

Great location. We sat on the porch for the last lunch of the ski season (July 4) and enjoyed the sunshine and partying locals. The prime location across from the main lodge makes it a little pricey for what you get -- 6.50 for a pint of Fat Tire or most any decent beer -- but the $12 fish tacos were just what the doctor ordered. (Admittedly light on the fish and heavy on the cabbage, but I kinda like it that way.) Hardly any veg options, though. If you have multiple vegetarians in your party, I'd take a ride downtown.

New menu ROCKS!! We had the grilled cheese and chicken schnitzle sandwiches. The grilled cheese was not your Mama's grilled cheese. Three cheese and ham served with fried onions the chicken schnitzle had this jalapeño aioli and homemade pickles. And oh, did I mention the fries made in duck fat, garlic and sage?? By far the two BEST items on the menu and we enjoyed every morsel.

Went to Yodler for there advertised happy hour special, beer and sandwich. The ad says 3-5. I got there at 4:30 and was informed that the kitchen was closed. What a disappointment. Hard to assign a star value on no service.

Went for lunch on a Thursday around 2:30 pm after a hike to Rainbow Falls. The place was very slow at this time, yet it took over 45 minutes for us to get our food. We paid $14 for my very average burger which was not served as requested (no dressing). The salad was not as described on the menu and none of the food was very good. Add to that the slow service, high prices and limited menu choices, I do not recommend for any meal. It might be ok to stop in for a beer.

Good lunch spot. Has the chicken Caesar wrap and an Arnald Palmer. Food came out promptly and the servers were very accommodating. The best bar about this spot is the $7 Shot Wheel at the bar. Lemmie tell you, there is some good ones on there & there is some bad ones. Watch out for the Pork Chop & the BJ. Good times...

Staff not very friendly and totally ignored my 10 year old son after he fell down 2 steps "not marked" at this lower sitting area located of the right of the bar.... Of course we didn't stay but made the remark to one of the staff members, he was totally aware of the danger and stated he pointed this out before and will make sure to put tape!!!!

Eating out in Mammoth = one big giant FAIL to date, including at the Yodler Bar & Pub. Food, 1-star: - $13 for 4 sad little pieces of deep-friend, battered fish (with a tiny, wilted cup of shredded lettuce drenched in balsamic vinaigrette which they called a "side salad" in lieu of chips). I requested a lemon wedge which arrived after I finished the fish, plus I had to waive over the waitstaff who wandered around looking confused with a slice of lemon in his hand. - $10+3 = $13 for a tiny plate of tasteless fettucini alfredo pasta... the extra $3 was for sausage, not sliced but the crumbled cheap pizza sausage kind. WTF?? Pasta costs pennies, you'd think they'd be a little more generous with their portion size... - $6 for the delicious-tasting S'Mores bread pudding on their menu... Wait, what was that, waitress? You stopped offering that last week yet it's still on your menu? Nice. Okay, um... we'll have a chocolate brownie instead. (When the brownie arrived, it was hard and crunchy and 90% burnt. Awesome. We sent it back immediately, even with ice cream it was entirely inedible. Even better, when we told our waitress it was burnt, she seemed surprised and exclaimed "How weird! They usually undercook it!" SWEET, hello salmonella poisoning!) - Plus $7 for a glass of white wine, tax and tip = $42 for a meal that I could've made that would've been tastier, more filling and much more enjoyable for less than $10 at Vons. Service, negative star: - Nice to meet our stressed out, fake friendly waitress who didn't check on us once after throwing down our food and never refilled our water - The same stressed out, fake friendly waitress tried to hustle us out of our seats so she could sit a party of 5 at our table. She literally said, quote "I don't want to rush you, but can you guys hurry up and finish your dessert and wine by the bar? There's a party of 5 waiting for it, thanks." Wow. REALLY?? Thanks for shitting on an already terrible experience, now we feel rushed and anxious every time you pass by our table hoping that we'll gulp down the wine instead of sip it and enjoy a conversation after a long day on the slopes. AVOID this dump with terrible overpriced food and awful service at all costs. Go to Vons or even the freaking Pita Pit instead.

Had a late lunch today around 4pm. There were more servers than customers... yet the service was incredibly slooow (didn't order anything fancy other than wings and chicken burger). Our server was friendly and nice... but it took forever for the food to arrive. And it is pricey too.. by about 40%!!

Service seemed slow. Was pricey. I ordered a veggie lover's pizza and the wifey ordered a mammoth burger. Burger was dry. Pizza had a yummy crunchy crust, topping wasn't too bad. Plenty of onions on it. The mushrooms looked a little on the raw side, but other than that, not bad. Not worth the price, but considering where we're at...gotta factor that in. We decided to go back for dinner because the other restaurant's menu didn't seem that great and they weren't open! Yet the music was blaring! Same thing in the morning, around 10 they weren't open for lunch, yet the music was blaring! We walked back and forth between this place and the hotel trying to figure out which one to cave to.... They really need a McDonald's or something up in those fancy area....

Good food. Huge portions. Fair price. Great place for lunch during a ski day. Prices are better than "on the mountain." Nachos are massive and the garlic parmesan wings are killer. We go almost every weekend for ski lunch. Get the chicken schnitzel or the giant pretzel if they still have it.

We have come to Mammoth late in the season so don't know what this place is like when it's kickin'. It isn't even open every day when it's slow, but we lucked in tonight. The service is very good. The atmosphere has a European feel to it (I can't decide if I like the men's German hats or not, though). The food. Oh my word. The food is superb. The Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich really is THAT good, and the Tabasco fried onions with it are cheftacularly genius. Rope Sandwich=scrummy, and the huge portion of fries and red and white saurkrauts were so goooood. Portions were too big to finish, so I couldn't justify dessert, but I did try a friend's Bavarian creme puff, and it was yummy. I totally will come back here when I next venture to Mammoth. I'm a big fan of this place, ja ja.

Crowded apres ski place where people have already changed out of their boots and heavy gear. I like the little enclave section with a seating area near the fireplace in the bar area. The food is overpriced ($14 for a burger) and isn't even really that great. Drinks are normal $5-$6 for a beer. There is an upstairs (and that is where the bathrooms are - so far away). The wait staff at the tables is OK. The bartenders really need to be nicer and smile more. There is a Mug Club for those frequent drinkers which is pretty cool.

meh. i've been eyeballing the yodler for about 3-4 years now. it's literally right next to the gondolas, and very hard to miss. too bad it's also very hard not to miss the quality of food here, which is average at best. we came here at 3pm, and they had some strange pseudo 3-6 pm ONLY appetizers only menu? though some of these appetizers were angue steak salad and chicken wrap. there were only a handful of items on the menu. we ordered their 'famous' fish tacos, (one with veggie chili and the other with coleslaw). We also ordered the soup of the day which was chicken vegetable. The food took almost 25 minutes to come out. (what's with the slow service in mammoth?), though the wait staff was extremely nice, it's not exactly rush hour dinner or lunch. we were ravenously hungry, as we always are after bombing downhill. the soup came in a very shallow, long plate. er? i dove in. GALSKDFJDSLFKJ!!!????? SALT! SALLLLLTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! would you like some veggies and chicken with your SALT??!! i don't even know how my boyfriend finished it, and to top it all off, it was TEN bucks. blah. the fish tacos were decent. decent meaning, the tortillas it came in were COLD, there was some thousand island slop on top of some sparse slabs of cabbage- no other veggies were in sight. the fish seemed fried to the max. it was ok, and it tasted good, but i was starving. and when i'm starving, and i'm STILL noticing things like this....well...you know. all is all, it was OK. my friend's chicken caesar wrap was good, but it was 15 bucks.... i might come back next year to try out their full menu, but then again, i might just save that money...i have enough sodium in my diet.

Our experience at this restaurant was far from acceptable. First, we waited for someone to show up at the door to seat us. When they finally came 10 minutes later, we were seated at a table that was way to small for our group of seven. We squeezed in, and figured out what we were going to eat, and waited another 20 minutes for the server to take our orders. By this time we were getting hungry, so we ordered our food and drinks. We waited and watched people get their food who came half an hour after us,while we had not had our drinks yet. We ended up waiting an hour and a half before getting our sodas . We were so frustrated, we asked to pay for our drinks, which they payed for eventually, and we left to go to Burgers, where they actually care about customer service.

My son makes us go here every time we are in Mammoth. The hot wings are crazy hot, but oh so good. I am a big fan of the fish tacos. If you are staying at the Mammoth Mountain Inn, it's a nice spot to walk over to if the roads are rough out there and you don't feel like eating "in" the hotel.
